Krav Maga--Real Self-Defense
Krav Maga is the official self-defense tactics system of the Israeli Defense Forces, and is currently the fastest-growing such self-defense system in the US. It is designed to be learned quickly and to work for everyone, regardless of one's size, strength, or athletic ability. Made up of instinctive movements and build up from only a handful of consistent principles, techniques and methods are easy to learn and easy to remember with minimal review. More importantly, it always all of our techniques to be accessible to you under extreme stress.
Your Safety is All We Care About
Krav Maga is built on the simple idea that your safety is the only thing that matters to us. There are no rules 'on the street', and therefore we have no rules in our system. If you can avoid conflict from ever beginning, that's the best way to guarantee your safety. However, sometimes you cannot, and the only alternative we encourage is quickly and aggressively ending the fight by effectively neutralizing any threats, and getting away as fast as you can.
Stress Training--Essential For Self-Defense
Your reactions and judgements are seriously affected by the extreme stress you feel when your safety is seriously threatened. Any system that purports to teach 'self-defense' must build techniques and drills that help you adapt to this stress--otherwise, all that you learn on the mat will leave you when you need it most. Krav Maga is specifically designed to teach techniques that are easy to remember under stress, and a large portion of training is dedicated to 'stress drills', helping to slowing (and safely!) acclimate you to putting your skills to work under stress.

No Rules--This is Not MMA!
Krav Maga is not technically a martial art--it has no rules and no real competition structure. It is a reality-based self-defense tactics system, and because reality does not have rules, Krav Maga teaches in that spirit. Nothing is off-limits to someone using Krav Maga to defend themself; groin strikes, biting, using your environment to improve weapons. In contrast, MMA, Boxing, Muay Thai, and BJJ are all examples of very effective martial arts, and many Krav Maga teachers and practitioners both regard them due respect and, often, train in them on the side to supplement their fighting skills. But they all have rules!
